Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your information. Last updated 6 October 2026.

City Love ("City Love", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information through this website (getcitylove.com) and the City Love dating app (app.getcitylove.com). We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

1. Information we collect

On this website:

  • Details you send through our contact form or waitlist (name, email address, message).
  • Anonymous visitor statistics, only if you accept the cookie notice (see section 5).
  • Basic technical information our hosting provider records to keep the site secure (for example IP address and browser type in security logs).

In the City Love app:

  • Account and profile details such as name, date of birth, gender, photos, interests and preferences.
  • Verification information: government ID, a selfie video and, where you choose, address and GPS confirmation. Verification photos are deleted within 48 hours of approval.
  • Approximate location to show nearby people and local events.
  • Messages, matches, quiz answers and how you use features such as the AI Dating Coach.
  • Safety information you choose to add, such as emergency contacts used by Share My Date and SOS.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide, run and improve the website and app.
  • To verify that members are real people and keep the community free of bots and fake profiles.
  • To suggest matches, compatibility scores and private coaching suggestions.
  • To respond to enquiries and send updates you have asked for (you can unsubscribe at any time).
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse and security incidents, and to meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. AI features

The AI Dating Coach and Wingman suggestions are private to you. Content you submit to these features is processed by trusted AI service providers only to generate your suggestions, and is not used to advertise to you.

4. Who we share information with

  • Service providers who help us operate (hosting, database and storage, email delivery, identity verification and AI processing), under confidentiality obligations.
  • Other members, but only the profile details you choose to show.
  • Police or authorities where required by law or to protect someone's safety.

Some providers may store data outside Australia. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected consistently with the APPs.

5. Cookies, visitor statistics and tracking

This website uses first-party, anonymous visitor statistics to understand which pages help people most. Nothing is recorded until you click Accept on the cookie notice. If you accept, we record:

  • The page you viewed and when.
  • The website that referred you here, if any.
  • Which "join the app" button you clicked (for example, on the homepage or a city page).

We do not record your name, email, IP address or a personal identifier with these statistics, and we do not use advertising cookies, third-party trackers or cross-site tracking. Your choice is stored in your browser (local storage) so we don't ask again. Links to the app include campaign tags (UTM parameters) that show which page you came from; these do not identify you.

Signing in to the admin area uses essential storage to keep you logged in. This is required for the site to work and is not used for statistics.

6. Storage and security

We use encryption in transit, access controls and limited staff access to protect your information. We keep it only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, then delete or de-identify it.

7. Access, correction and deletion

You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it. App members can also edit or delete their account in the app. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Age

City Love is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

9. Contact and complaints

For privacy questions, requests or complaints, please contact us. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page with its updated date.
