A first date isn't a job interview. It's a chance to find out if you enjoy each other's company. A little planning takes the pressure off, so you can focus on the conversation.
Before the date
- Pick a public place you know, like a café, a bar or a walk somewhere busy.
- Keep it short. An hour or two leaves you both wanting more.
- Tell a friend where you're going, or use Share My Date in the City Love app.
On the date
- Ask open questions, like "What's been the best part of your week?", and really listen to the answer.
- Put your phone away. Being fully present is the most attractive thing you can do.
- Be honest about what you're looking for, without turning it into a checklist.
After the date
- If you had a good time, say so within a day. Confidence beats playing it cool.
- If it wasn't a match, a kind, short message is always better than ghosting.
